Recently I read a truly phenomenal book, which according to wikipedia “more than 25 million copies of the book have been sold and it has been translated into more than 50 languages”…

This book is titled, “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl“. It is a touching, personal, and perfect account of life lived under siege.

The Diary of a Young Girl is a book composed of extracts from a diary written by Anne Frank while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of The Netherlands. The family was apprehended in 1944 and Frank ultimately died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. After the war, the diary was retrieved by Frank’s father, Otto Frank.

Anne Frank began to keep a diary on her thirteenth birthday, June 12, 1942, three weeks before she went into hiding with her mother, father and sister and four other people in the sealed-off upper rooms of the annex of her father’s office building in Amsterdam. With the assistance of a group of Otto Frank’s trusted colleagues they remained hidden for two years and one month, until their betrayal in August 1944, which resulted in their deportation to Nazi concentration camps. Of the group of eight, only Otto Frank survived the war. Anne died in Bergen-Belsen shortly before its liberation in April 1945.

The genocide has not been given a face by Anne Frank. She is a frank and dualist writer.

After a Bible lesson about Adam and Eve, a thirteen-year-old boy asked his father, “Tell me, Father, how did I get born?”

“Well,” the father replied, “the stork plucked you out of the ocean, set you down in Mother’s bed and bit her in the leg, hard. It bled so much she had to stay in bed for a week.”

Not fully satisfied, the boy went to his mother. “Tell me, Mother,” he asked, “how did you get born and how did I get born?”

His mother told him the very same story.

Finally, hoping to hear the fine points, he went to his grandfather. “Tell me, Grandfather,” he said, “how did you get born and how did your daughter get born?” And for the third time he was told exactly the same story.

That night he wrote in his diary: “After careful inquiry, I must conclude that there has been no sexual intercourse in our family for the last three generations!”

The failure to understand the infinite depth of the human soul is often why people who are married have affairs. They stop exploring the person they married. They find somebody who appears more interesting.Which over a period of time they understand is the wrong path to take. Some who realize it in time are lucky others …. not so lucky…
